I feel your pain and I hate that there isn't more being done about it in this country. I am going to make this as detailed as possible so anyone can understand. This post applies only to those who have PVCs/PACs and AFIB with structurally normal hearts, also known as normal or benign conditions. So if you have been cleared by your cardiologist with an ECHO, Holter, Stress test and etc., this applies to you. Everyone else obviously should check with their Doctor before attempting any of my suggestions. I have a doctoral degree but I am NOT a medical doctor nor do I practice medicine. I have been obsessed with this situation for some time now and have read thousands of medical research studies from around the world (mostly Japanese, German, and Scandinavian countries) looking for similar conditions, cures and answers since the current US medical system doesn't even address the PVCs/PACs problem. I was surprised to find out that PVCs/PACs are not normal or benign and although everyone has them, few or dozens a day, anymore than that is dangerous over long periods of time if you aren't doing anything about it.
I wasn't born in this country but I have always believed that there are practical approaches to everything in life. If a doctor is treating you for a condition and not curing it then you need to ask yourself whether the treatment is working. Don't be a sheep. Think of this, we have record number of people in this country with all kinds of heart issues suffering for decades, we hear all these breakthroughs in medicine and yet the numbers of people dying keep going up, why? I bet you if the pharmaceutical profits were down, they'd fix it really quick. I mean when was the last time you heard of a cure for anything? Polio back in 1953?
Coffee, sugary drinks, and alcohol should not be consumed if you want to cure PVCs/PACs, since they deplete all the vital nutrients out of your body, so the longer you consume them the worse the problem will eventually become. Some people feel every skipped PVC/PAC and some don't feel any. I would also suggest that you quit bad sugars because they plaque your arteries, which can slow your blood flow and cause PVCs/PACs. If you don't know who made it, don't eat it. Have you ever noticed how sweets never go bad? Even mold wont grow on some of those cookies you buy in stores. Imagine what this is doing to your arteries when eaten?
Diet really matters, stick to daily requirements when it comes to potassium by getting healthy choices of non salted beans, coconut water, avocados, bananas, sun dried tomatoes, spinach, kale, etc. If you want to try this, then for the first couple of weeks drink a lot of water to wash out the toxins and sodium out of your body, after that get moderate amounts of water everyday This alone will diminish your PVCs/PACs to bearable condition within a week, especially if you keep your sodium intake to minimum. Here is a simple formula which I use daily. 2 bananas, 2 avocados, I cup of beans, 2 servings of low sodium V8, and spinach/kale salad. You can mix it anyway you want but don't go without 4700mg of potassium even for a day as it ads up and you'll be low on intercellular level, especially if you're body is consuming a lot of sodium. Switch to pink salt which has trace minerals and is good for you. For those that don't know, table salt depletes potassium which is number one reason why people have heart attacks and strokes in this country. HIGH SODIUM AND LOW POTASSIUM Testing for serum potassium is useless, its estimated that 70% of potasium serum results are made in error. You should know your body, if you're eating 4700mg of potassium a day or not, your labs are worthless. You need to take daily potassium only from foods instead of supplementing since its healthier and better for your heart to get it from food sources rich in potassium, plus all the foods that are high in potassium are also high magnesium and other nutrients needed for your body. So no potassium supplements. Think about it, would you rather take 5 pills equaling 500mg of potassium or eat a banana or an avocado?
Here’s a list of foods that contains both potassium and magnesium.
Asparagus, bananas, leafy greens such as spinach, Swiss chard and kale, cantaloupe, white and sweet potatoes with skin on, citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, papaya and squash are all sources of both potassium and magnesium, as well as plenty of other vitamins, minerals and fiber.
Another thing I want to say is that you never want to supplement with only one vitamin since it creates an imbalance and depletes something else and then you're back to square one with PVCs/PACs. Just like there isn't one magic pill to cure it, there isn't one single reason why we all have PVCs/PACs. For example, deficiency in B-12, Vitamin D, Potassium, Calcium, Sodium, Magnesium and many others can give you PVCs/PACs. keep in mind that you also want to take a break within 3 months of supplementing and see where you are by pausing for a few weeks. Too much of anything needs balance. For all the people going crazy on magnesium know that too much magnesium depletes calcium and likewise too much calcium depletes magnesium. So if you supplement with one you need to find the balance and make sure not to cause any other imbalances. You can take 1000mg of magnesium a day but if you're low on potassium, it isn't going to help you at all with PVCs/PACs.
I have noticed that majority of extreme cases on the web are women who are either post pregnancy or during menstrual periods. This had me thinking that most of them lose a lot of blood and a lot of nutrients which also destabilizes the heartbeat. Then I found supporting evidence which explained exactly that the issue isn't benign or stress, or coffee, but loss of vital nutrients which have been lost over the years. Another thing I found out is that a lot of vegetarians have PVCs/PACs and it has to do with low B-12 and guess what? the doctors won't even treat it since they've lowered the normal levels to ridiculous numbers, which in some countries is considered dangerous. For example, someone with B-12 levels of 300pg/ml can have balance issues, muscle pain, PVCs/PACs and many other symptoms. But guess what in USA we don't considered low unless its under 200pg/ml, In Japan it’s a crisis and you're treated right away with injections.
My situation started 6 months ago when I was trying to lose around 50 pounds by basically starving, sweating and exercising. After realizing what happened and getting cleared by my cardiologist with Holter, ECHO and Stress test, I started to research hoping to find a cure. I want to point out right away that there is no single cure for PVCs/PACs, it's a combination of vitamins/micronutrients. I fixed my situation by focusing on my body's vital nutrients. Everything I took was already in some way inside of my body either in sufficient or deficient levels. So all of the below supplements are essential for the cure to work either in low or higher dosages since they all work together to keep the body and heart healthy. I am not going to advise you what dosages you should take, that is for you to decide based on your situation, diet, lifestyle etc.
So here's what I take currently which eliminated my PVCs/PACs within 1-3 months. Noticed significant results within one week.
Magnesium Triple Calm 3-4 times a day since its easy on your stomach and calms the heart. There are other magnesium brands and types that work for some people so it shouldn't matter as long as your dosage is around 400-700mg of elemental magnesium per day.
Multivitamin one daily preferably USP rated from Costco
I also take these in higher dosages Zinc, Copper, Selenium, Vitamin E, Vitamin A
Vitamin D I get daily from the sun between 10am and 2pm around 10-15 minutes of at least 30% skin exposure.
Calcium minimum daily required. Works with Magnesium, otherwise magnesium supplements by itself will deplete calcium.
Vitamin C in large doses around 1000-3000mg twice a day. This is very important and your body needs it for all sorts of functions.
Lysine 1000mg a day. Works with Vitamin C to prevent or reverse coronary artery disease.
Omega 3 Fish Oil 4 grams a day from Costco USP rated for potency and quality.
B-12 Most of the adults in this country who drink coffee and alcohol or any other stomach PPI are low on B-12. For example, in this country we treat B-12 deficiency after it drops under 200pg/ml while in Japan and other countries levels under 550 is considered a deficiency.
Taurine around 3000grams a day in 3 doses. It calms the heart, helps regulate potassium which regulates the heart.
Arginine 2000grams a day in 3 doses. Arginine is NO which restores sinus rhythm with arrhythmia.
Carnitine around 500mg once a day. Carnitine is found in red meat like beef and has the ability to stabilize heart cell membranes and improve compromised cellular energy metabolism.
D Ribose around 5 grams a day. This is extremely important for ATP levels.
B-Complex once a day. B-complex is vital and it helps with digestion, also transforms food into energy.
Once again all of the above supplements are in your body already so your body doesn't need to reject anything since it isn't a toxic substance. So if you're serious about finding a cure for PVCs/PACs you can try my method or you can read the studies out there by searching the web. Hope this helps someone.
Hello What an excellent post! Just something i keep trying to find an answer to:once low on potassium intracellular, will ever can be restored with proper supplements, how long it takes, years? |
