DooDaa1227User Since: Jun 2013Posts: 5I am putting this on because of my gratitude to this site for what a profound difference this has made in my life. I turned to this site in desperation and it has helped to change my life and relieve great suffering. Many thanks to Winenut for his great post that started me on the path beating PVCs. A great many thanks to PVCMan for starting this site - it has helped me so much. God bless you!

Here are my stats and the meds I am taking:

History:
- female, age 31, history of heart issues and two previous heart surgeries
-100% disabled veteran, house bound, suffering from Gulf War syndrome, etc
- born with congenital heart defect - ASD repair performed at 16 - fully recovery from it
- have been riddled with constant heart pain after first heart surgery and PVCs that slowly started and worsened, followed by episodes of tachycardia
- recent catheter ablation after ER cardioversion to stop 8 hour tachycardia episode brought on by PVCs - succesful surgery however contined PVCs and brief tachy to this day
- suffered from near continuous PVCs after catheter ablation

Current medications:
-400 mg of Magesium Taurate - (staggered 2x per day, 200mg morning, 200 mg before bed)
-100 mg Metropolol - (1x daily)
- 1200 mg Potassium Gluconate - (evenly staggered 3x per day, morning, noon, and evening)
- 1x capsule Ubiquinol
- 1x serving Fish Oil (common, over the counter dosage)
- 1x capsule B-100 complex (common, over the counter dosage)

This combination of supplements has changed my life. When the PVCs started I just took potassium gluconate and swallowed down a larger dose all at once - that was no good. It worked briefly then they all came back. I am talking thousands upon thousands - torturous and constant - I know everyone out there understands this in particular.

The most important thing I can say is that this combination - a minimum of which if you don't want to take anything else - I recommend minimally the Magnesium Taurate and the Potassium Gluconate (I take the metropolol due to recent surgery). Taking the above combination of supplements STAGGERED throughout the day has saved my life, I believe, and has absolutely saved my mind and mental health. It takes maybe a week and a half for the body to renew its supplies of these vital nutrients - but after a small amount of time - my body regulated itself and the PVCs have reduced from thousands upon thousands a day to maybe three actual PVCs that are even noticeable - some days there are literally none at all. I agree with PVCMan that it has to do with severe malabsorption in many people's cases, as that was the root of my PVCs acting up so seriously right after surgery and probably the cause of the first SVT that caused the surgery in the first place. Due to my Gulf War Syndrome I have experienced terrible IBS and poor absorption of nutrients from the food I eat, as well as acid reflux. The root of it must have been some sort of malabsorption because when I corrected this - it has turned my life around. Noticeably I eat very little meat and few food items that contain sufficient potassium to properly bolster my heart function. Potassium - vital to proper electrical signals in the heart, Magnesium -vital to enabling the body to absorb the potassium you are ingesting, Taurate - part of magnesium taurate - must have for the function of the heart and for the body to absorb the magnesium ingested, helps to keep heart energized and beating strongly. Ubiquinol -great heart supplement for general heart health. B-100 Complex - a well known supplement to aid in heart function and reduction of stress. Fish Oil - great for heart health. The medications you take must be staggered, they are immediate release supplements, not extended release so you have to break up when you take them to give your heart continuous support the entire 24 hours. When I didn't stagger them, nothing worked - not even the potassium. when I staggered it - bang - my body recovered in less than a week pretty much. I can't stress enough how bad mine were and how incessant - all day, when I laid down to rest, when I breathed deeply, whenever I had a glass of wine, whenever I had a cup of coffee, whenever I took a breath in from my inhaler, whenever I was stressed, whenever I was over tired and worn out, even whenever I tried to concentrate during meditation! Take heart, everyone - I have so many health problems from Iraq, two heart surgeries, and no reason for my heart to have ever recovered or work right again - and even in this terrible scenario - this has helped my poor ticker, finally.

This is what I have done thanks to all the advice on this website. God bless all that have contributed. Keep keeping on, everybody. My recommendation didn't completely eliminate the PVCs for me - but it reduced them to barely noticeable or non existent most days.

PVCManUser Since: Oct 2009Posts: 228Wow, many thanks for the kind words. The uptake of this site has been a little slow to date, although I do have many more things planned such as a nutritional diary which is aimed at supplement taking as well as calorie tracking coupled with a timeline.

Also, MANY thanks for sharing your progress and how you achieved it. This is the sort of information that I am sure will help many others. I have read several times before that magnesium and potassium (albeit one depending on the other) are often hard to absorb. So your approach of taking little and often makes perfect sense. It has been said that some don't digest all of their food (especially when eaten as large portions), so it stands to reason that a large single dose of supplements a day can easily result in the supplement passing through the body without being fully absorbed, whereas a small amount frequently is much more likely to be effective.

I see you have been through quite a lot in your life, and I am so pleased you have made such good progress. It makes me feel the effort to create this site is very worthwhile.

Thanks for the insight on your situation, DooDaa. I am currently researching supplementation that could alleviate and lessen the incidence of these uneven heartbeats, and I am curious to try out your recommendation of 400 mg Magnesium Taurate & 1200 mg of Potassium Gluconate each day, staggered. I will very likely try this out and report back on these forums if I have done so.
